# Without a collector: import a file

Get a first look at your estate in minutes, with nothing to install and no flow to open.

## The steps

1. Export your estate. In RVTools, use **Export all to Excel**, with no active filter. LiveOptics works too, in its standard Excel exports.
2. In Naoshift, open **Settings › Integration**.
3. Drop the file in the **Import a file** zone. The format is detected automatically.
4. Follow the import, which runs in the background. Once it succeeds, the dashboard and analyses update.

## What a file gives you, and what it does not

A file is a snapshot: the inventory, risks and opportunities at the date of the export. Dropping a newer export of the same environment adds a snapshot to its history, without duplicating anything.

For continuous tracking, live changes and incidents, you need a collector. This lesson is optional if you already have one.

### The import fails immediately

The file is probably not a complete export. Redo it with **Export all to Excel**.

### The file is rejected on upload

The limit is 50 MB per file. Export cluster by cluster, or use the import API.

### The numbers look too low

The export was probably made with filters active in RVTools. Redo it with no filter.
