Objective
Know how to read the state of a source and recognize, from the nature of a failure, what to fix and where.
The steps
- On Settings › Integration, find the source card under Connected sources.
- Read its state and the time of its last collection. If it failed, open its logs: Naoshift gives the nature of the problem there.
- Fix it according to the table below, then run Collect again.
The states of a source
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connected | The last collection succeeded |
| Collecting… | The collector is working |
| Waiting for first collection | The source has just been declared |
| Partial | Part of the data could not be read, the rest is there |
| Failed | The collection did not complete |
| Collector offline | The problem is on the collector side, not the source |
Once the collection succeeds, open the dashboard: your data is there.
If you get stuck
| Nature | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate rejected | The server answered, the collector refused its certificate. | Install the authority on the collector host, pin the fingerprint where the connector offers it, or disable TLS verification on the connector. |
| Server unreachable | The collector did not reach the server. | Check the name, the port and network filtering between the collector and the target. The address must start with https://. |
| Credentials rejected | The server refused the account. | Check the account, its format and its role on the target. Beware of lockouts after repeated failures. |
| Insufficient rights | The account is recognized, its role does not cover everything. | Grant it a read-only role over the whole scope. |
